39 of the original Agreement for Through Traffie on the

Canton Kowloon Railway provides that the agreement shall

be valid for a period of five years from the time when

it came into fores; and, thereafter, from year to year

unless sitker goverıment notified to the other its in-

tention to e«neel the agreement, in which oase it was

to cease to operate on the expiration of one year

from such notification.

Again, Article 41 states :-

"If either government hus occasion to terminate the

agreement, notification of annulment shall have no

effect unless one year's notice has been given"

Now, therefore, in accordance with the provisions of

the above mentioned articles, this Ministry hereby can-

sels the mid agreement, and requests that the Governor

of Hong Kong be notified accordingly.'

I have therefore the honour to notify Your Excell-

shay roserdingly, and to request that you transmit this in-

formation to the liong Kong Government. The favour of a reply

is requested.
